1         Introduction

After Lockheed Martin announced the closing of their Eagan, MN plant by 2013, several of their sponsored leagues wanted to continue their play and social interactions.  Members of these leagues include a fair number of retirees who approached the VIP Club for help.

Keith Behnke was appointed as a VIP Club Board Associate to facilitate communications with these various employee/retiree recreation leagues.  The VIP Club Board also agreed to add league information to our Club and Legacy web site.

The officer contact information, schedules, site locations of each league will be posted on this group page as mergers go forward.

When it's hot outside for shooting, drink plenty of fluids.  Stay in the shade until start time.

3. Trap and Skeet Club

This League's transition is underway, the first to lead the way using the VIP club's web site for communications with the team 'shooters'.  The Lockheed Martin Trap and Skeet Club is an organization which provides friendly competitive trap and skeet shooting for men and women during the April through August shooting season.  The Club shooting leagues incorporate an individual handicap scoring system so that any skill level of shooter can participate, have fun, and contribute to his/her team for team awards.  Membership in the club is over 80 membrs and is open to all employees and retirees.

3.2        Operations

The season begins with a Captains Meeting in March to plan for the upcoming season and ends with an Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet in September. The 2011 Club operation includes both trap and skeet leagues. A Club member may participate in either or both leagues. Each league provides weekly team competition.

Each ‘shooter’ should read the TrapSkeet_LeagueRules2010.pdf, the SafetyRules.pdf, and the  LMTSC_Constitution___Bylaws_042503.pdf  before beginning this year's competition.

Shooting is held every Tuesday after work at the South St. Paul Rod and Gun Club. A trap team consists of 5 to 10 shooters and a skeet team consists of 4 to 10 shooters. A minimum of 5 trap and 4 skeet shooters must shoot each week to establish a ‘team score’ for the week. Each team member shoots 25 rounds per week. A team score is calculated based on the total targets hit by all team members. Points are awarded to each team based on the rank of weekly team scores. The team points are accumulated to determine the champion team for each league. The season is split into two halves with a ‘shoot off’ at the end of the season to determine the overall league champion. Awards are presented to the winning team members of each league as well as the "Top Gun" individual shooter. In addition, National Rifle Association (NRA) awards are also presented to individual shooters which achieve NRA skill levels of Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert or Distinguished Expert.
