3.2 Operations
The season begins with a Captains Meeting in March to plan for the upcoming season and ends with an Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet in September. The 2011 Club operation includes both trap and skeet leagues. A Club member may participate in either or both leagues. Each league provides weekly team competition.
Each ‘shooter’ should read the TrapSkeet_LeagueRules2010.pdf, the SafetyRules.pdf, and the LMTSC_Constitution___Bylaws_042503.pdf before beginning this year's competition.
Shooting is held every Tuesday after work at the South St. Paul Rod and Gun Club. A trap team consists of 5 to 10 shooters and a skeet team consists of 4 to 10 shooters. A minimum of 5 trap and 4 skeet shooters must shoot each week to establish a ‘team score’ for the week. Each team member shoots 25 rounds per week. A team score is calculated based on the total targets hit by all team members. Points are awarded to each team based on the rank of weekly team scores. The team points are accumulated to determine the champion team for each league. The season is split into two halves with a ‘shoot off’ at the end of the season to determine the overall league champion. Awards are presented to the winning team members of each league as well as the "Top Gun" individual shooter. In addition, National Rifle Association (NRA) awards are also presented to individual shooters which achieve NRA skill levels of Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert or Distinguished Expert.
