3. Volunteer Opportunities Please help us at the State Fair! Our VIP CLUB Sesquicentennial Team is asking for about 75 volunteers to support our display in the Minnesota Sesquicentennial state fair tent. Details are in a meeting report from Dick Lundgren. The CLUB will distribute fair ground entrance tickets, courtesy of the Sesquicentennial Commission. Select your preferred shift days and times from the table below then Contact Tom Turba [tnturba@comcast.net]. Please give him your first, second, and third choices as he'll assign slots on a first come basis. We'd like to have two or three persons per time slot to facilitate breaks and snack errands as well as to be able to respond to visitor inquiries. You are welcome to team with a friend!

Our booth space will be about 8'x tbd' containing an artifact table and two display sections somewhat as shown here. We'll hold a brief 'information training' session for volunteers in mid-August at plant 4 (date and time is tbd). We will also put together a Technology History presentation for one or more sessions in the 'Big Top.'

In exchange for a 3.5 hour shift, each volunteer will receive a free admission ticket for one day, a free commemorative t-shirt, and discounts on other commemoratives. They will have an air-conditioned 'Big Top Tent' located between the Grandstand and Heritage Square. Their help areas are 1) Grounds Crew, 2) Ushers, and 3) support Exhibit & Merchandise Tables. - Hello, We need volunteers for www.littlebrothersmn.org. We have many ways for folks to volunteer. We have a small cabin on Lake Josephine in Arden Hills, we need volunteers there to help us serve and prepare meals for about 35 elders and their volunteers. - Meals on Wheels can use your help in delivering hot, nutritious lunchtime meals on weekdays (Monday through Friday) to the elderly and those with limited mobility in our community. You can volunteer once a week or once a month, delivery takes only about an hour. Volunteers deliver much more than a meal, they bring a smile and kind words, the relieve isolation, and provide peace of mind for people in need. There are nearly fifty Meals on Wheels program centers spread throughout the Twin Cities metro area, so there is a location near you. You can bring a friend or family member with you to help deliver meals. Volunteers provide their own transportation and must have a current driver's license. - The Minnesota State Services for the Blind needs volunteers to troubleshoot and repair Cassette Talking Book Machines at their service center located at 2200 University Ave. in St. Paul, MN. they'll train, only expect 4 hours per week per volunteer.
