About Us
 1. Introduction
We are all volunteers, welcome help with any aspect of services and social activities.  We conduct CLUB business on the first Wednesday morning of the month - alternating Board meetings between Roseville and Eagan.  Activity Coordinators participate in these meetings as their planning requires.  Members are welcome to attend Board meetings, please notify the President by the Friday before the meeting if you have an issue for the Agenda.

We coordinate 'topical speaker' evening meetings at Plant 4 and the Eagan Community Center.  These 'topical speaker' meetings are at 7:00 p.m. the second Wednesday of various months as announced in the monthly newsletter.

If you'd like to hear about a specific topic or from a local speaker, call or send a note to the activity coordinator.

The Club coordinates and hosts an annual April Volunteer recognition breakfast at Plant 4, an annual June picnic at Highland Park, and an annual Christmas dinner/dance at the Ft. Snelling NCO Club.

The VIP Club provides our members with opportunities to participate in a variety of community volunteer activities as well as attend social activities, educational presentations, and special outings.

Constitution governs the CLUB; defining the Board as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, four Directors, and the Past President.  The constitution  authorizes the Board to enact operational Bylaws with four goals:
     1. The Club shall provide an opportunity for social interaction of its members,
     2. The Club shall provide services and information appropriate to the interest of its members,
     3. The Club shall provide a mechanism for member services to the community, and
     4. The Club shall provide a forum for information on the heritage and on-going action of the sponsoring business entities and their predecessors.

2. Volunteer Services

Marion Scott, (651)455-7952, has been coordinating Red Cross blood drive sessions at Plant 8, Plant 4, and the MACs building in Eagan for over two decades.   Greeters and Servers are needed to help her about six times a year.  See the Volunteer Opportunities section of the Calendar page for un-scheduled volunteer activities.

3. Election Process

The annual Board election process begins in August of each year when the President appoints a three person nominating committee chaired by the Immediate Past President.  The candidate slate for the following year is provided to the Club members in the Newsletter preceding the election and/or at the Club general meeting/program preceding the election. All club members are eligible to volunteer to be a candidate for election to any of the Director or Officer positions [except for the Immediate Past President which is not an elected position.]  Floor nominations at the election meeting are in order if the person being nominated for the position is willing and able to serve in the position.  If a Board member resigns during his/her year of service, the President appoints someone to serve in that postion until the next election.

6. Newsletters
The VIP Club generates monthly newsletters to keep members informed.  These include information about upcoming Club programs at our general meetings.  We also list just joined members and recent 'deceased members' as well as member spouses - plus non-member former employees of UNISYS, LMCO MS II, Sperry, UNIVAC, Burroughs, and ERA when reported to a board member.  We also include reports about various club activities and redacted (for length) articles submitted by members.

  • Inputs for next month's Newsletter are due to the Editor(s) by Friday after each Board meeting, i.e. the first Friday following the first Wednesday of each month.
  • Address changes are due to the Membership committee by the Wednesday of each Board meeting.

In order to give our volunteer editors an occasional respite, we usually combine the Jan/Feb newsletter and one other set during the summer, thus the $5 per year membership fee covers 10 newsletters - or $12 for three years.
