 1. Introduction
A Constitution governs the CLUB; defining the Board as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, four Directors, and the Past President.  The constitution  authorizes the Board to enact operational Bylaws with four goals:
     1. The Club shall provide an opportunity for social interaction of its members,
     2. The Club shall provide services and information appropriate to the interest of its members,
     3. The Club shall provide a mechanism for member services to the community, and
     4. The Club shall provide a forum for information on the heritage and on-going action of the sponsoring business entities and their predecessors.

We are all volunteers, welcome help with any aspect of services and social activities.  We conduct CLUB business at Board meetings on the first Wednesday morning of the month - alternating  between Roseville and Eagan.  Activity Coordinators participate in these meetings as needed.

Members are welcome to attend Board meetings, please notify the President by the Friday before any meeting if you have an issue for the Agenda.

Introduction Continued:

We coordinate 'topical speaker' meetings at UNISYS, Roseville and the Eagan MACS building.  These 'topical speaker' meetings are at to be announced times. the second Wednesday of various months as announced in the monthly newsletter.

If you'd like to hear about a specific topic or from a local speaker, call or send a note to the activity coordinator.

The Club coordinates and hosts an annual April Volunteer recognition breakfast, an annual June picnic at Highland Park, and an annual Christmas dinner/dance at Ft. Snelling.

We also coordinate the Roseville Good Old Days gathering in the Northern Suburbs in April and the Old Timers at the Ft. Snelling O' Club in December.

2. Volunteer Services

Marion Scott, (651)455-7952, has been coordinating Red Cross blood drive sessions at Plant 8, Plant 4, and the MACs building in Eagan for three decades.   Greeters and Servers are needed to help her about six times a year.  See the Volunteer Opportunities section of the Calendar page for un-scheduled volunteer activities.

3. Election Process

The annual Board election process begins in August of each year when the President appoints a three person nominating committee chaired by the Immediate Past President.  The candidate slate for the following year is provided to the Club members in the Newsletter preceding the election and/or at the Club general meeting/program preceding the election. All club members are eligible to volunteer to be a candidate for election to any of the Director or Officer positions [except for the Immediate Past President which is not an elected position.]  Floor nominations at the election meeting are in order if the person being nominated for the position is willing and able to serve in the position.  If a Board member resigns during his/her year of service, the Board appoints someone to serve in that postion until the next election.

6. Newsletters
The VIP Club generates monthly newsletters to keep members informed.  These include information about upcoming Club programs at our general meetings.  We also list new members and recently 'deceased members' as well as member spouses - plus non-member former employees of UNISYS, LMCO MS2, Sperry, UNIVAC, Burroughs, and ERA as reported to a board members.  We also include reports about various club activities and redacted (for length) articles submitted by members.
  • Inputs for next month's Newsletter are due to the Editor(s) by Friday after each Board meeting, i.e. the first Friday following the first Wednesday of each month.
  • Address changes for the next issue mailings are due to the Membership committee by the Wednesday of each Board meeting.

In order to give our volunteer editors an occasional respite, we usually combine the Jan/Feb newsletter and one other set during the summer.  In 2008, we started to archive newsletter issue links, see Home, Newsletters.  We also distribute the newsletter electronically to those who opt to not get the mailed copy.
